Biarritz

August 21 – 26, 2012

We were both very excited to get fully into summer mode and log some beach time and hit the surf!  Biarritz is known as one of the premiere beach getaways in France.

Home sweet home! We found another great airbnb.com place in a town called Tarnos just north of Biarritz. So nice to be able to cook our own meals, and eat breakfast on our sunny patio.

The main beach in Biarritz was awesome! Amazing surf, warm water and it's right in the middle of the city. It reminded us of Bondi Beach in Australia. Although it's a bit crowded, there are tons of other more chill beaches nearby - ideal for practicing our paddle ball skillz.

Some really cool rock formations dot the shoreline.

At Plage du Metro near Tarnos, there was a huge concrete structure covered with graffiti including this awesome Chuck Norris portrait

There are seemingly endless beaches everywhere in the region, so we spent our days picking a random beach to check out, then setting up some towels and swimming in the waves, surfing, reading and general lounging! This is really the life!

Biarritz was exactly what a beach vacation should be – and as an added bonus to the Mediterranean Sea, it has waves!

  1. Hi Paul and Lauren
Sounds wonderful, although I can’t help but wonder how you can be ‘right in the midst of summer’ when the leaves are turning! We are all envious! Sounds like another wonderful spot for you both to visit.
